Suddenly on my blog, https://www.TipsforboomerYears.com, my photos are not showing up in the photo editor. Only coding shows up. I’ve tried getting photos from different places and this didn’t work either.

I tried a plug in called Flexible Upload and even though I uploaded it to my cpanel and opened and unzipped it, it doesn’t show up in my plugin list. Is there another one I can try? I’m very tired of hassling with this photo thing which has been going on for several weeks.

    Thanks!

  • Hi boomerjoan,

I’m not sure what might be causing your initial issue (photos not in the editor, only code) but that could be a theme or plugin conflict. You may want to try switching to the default theme and disabling plugins to see if that resolves the issue. You can then switch back to your current theme and enable plugins one by one to see what might be causing the issue.

I’m happy to help you with the steps for installing a plugin too. You shouldn’t have to upload the plugin through your cPanel to install it in WordPress. Please try these steps for installing a plugin from the dashboard:

    1. Log into your dashboard
    2. Click on Plugins in the menu on the left
    3. Click “Add New”
    4. Do a search for the plugin you want to install (in this case Flexible Upload)
    5. Click Install Now
    6. When the plugin finishes installing, click “Activate Plugin

    Hope this helps!

Are you working with 3.2.1? I only have version 2.6.3 and I am wondering if this is the problem.

I’d like to install the newer version but I’m not very tech savvy and it seems complicated.

I do have the newest version on another blog and never had a problem with photos. In fact, up until recently I never had a problem with photos on this blog either and I’ve had it for 3 years.

    thanks for the help!

    You’re welcome boomerjoan,

Yes, I’m working in 3.2.1. I would highly recommend updating your installation. That could cause multiple issues and for security of your site, it’s always best to run the latest version.

There are so many factors that could play in to this issue. It’s possible that your web host may have updated PHP and MySQL on your server and your version of WordPress isn’t compatible. I’m not saying that is the issue, but it is one scenario.

While there are steps to take in order to properly update WordPress, there are some good instructions here:

If you run into any snags, remember there’s lots of people in the forums to help!

    Good luck

Thanks so much for your help, Christi. I will update this week and see if that solves my photo problem as well.
