Since the PHP upgrade from 7.3.16 to 7.4.5 the running time of scan has been increased dramatically. Any idea about the possible reason? According to the hosting provider there is no significant change in the PHP settings.

    PHP 7.3.16:
    [May 28 20:38:51:1590691131.026625:1:info] Scan Complete. Scanned 14729 files, 22 plugins, 4 themes, 44 posts, 0 comments and 27157 URLs in 38 minutes 17 seconds.
[May 28 20:38:51:1590691131.026021:2:info] Wordfence used 19.41 MB of memory for scan. Server peak memory usage was: 108.41 MB

    PHP 7.4.5:
    [Jun 04 01:02:35] Scan interrupted. Scanned 13832 files, 21 plugins, 2 themes, 0 posts, 0 comments and 14706 URLs in 5 hours 8 seconds.
[Jun 04 01:02:42] Wordfence used 19.36 MB of memory for scan. Server peak memory usage was: 106.36 MB
[Jun 04 01:02:42] Scan terminated with error: The scan time limit of 5 hours has been exceeded and the scan will be terminated.

Thank you for the help in advance,
    Attila

  • Hey @titala,

Are you able to downgrade the PHP version to ensure this is what’s contributing to it?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gerroald,
After switching back to PHP 7.3.16 everything went fine again:

[Jun 05 16:46:38] Wordfence used 21.37 MB of memory for scan. Server peak memory usage was: 110.37 MB
    [Jun 05 16:46:38] Scan Complete. Scanned 13823 files, 21 plugins, 2 themes, 44 posts, 0 comments and 26557 URLs in 10 minutes 44 seconds.

    Hey @titala,

Thanks for the update and testing this. I’ve shared this with the developers, and I’ll report back here as soon as I know more.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    Hey @titala,

I’ve spoken with the developers about this. If it’s not too much trouble can you upgrade once more to PHP 7.4.5 to see if this is still happening? It’s possible a coincidental server load might’ve contributed to this.

If the issues remain after the upgrade can you please send Diagnostics running on both 7.3.16 and 7.4.5? To do so please navigate to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics. Here you can select SEND REPORT BY EMAIL. Please include your www.ads-software.com username and update this thread after you’ve sent it.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    Hi Gerroald,

The two diag mails have been sent. The issue is still there for PHP 7.4.5:

    [Jun 06 00:38:55] Scan interrupted. Scanned 13842 files, 21 plugins, 2 themes, 0 posts, 0 comments and 5847 URLs in 3 hours 24 seconds.
[Jun 06 00:39:06] Wordfence used 15.37 MB of memory for scan. Server peak memory usage was: 43.37 MB
[Jun 06 00:39:06] Scan terminated with error: The scan time limit of 3 hours has been exceeded and the scan will be terminated.

    Hi Gerroald,

    Any news concerning this?

    Hey @titala,

I don’t see anything glaring in the reports.

Are you still experiencing this? We still haven’t noticed any other reports and the developer was not able to reproduce it.

Can you please try completely resetting Wordfence and let me know if it helps? If it doesn’t, I’ll bump the developers once more.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

I definitely need your help. I reinstalled Wordfence from scratch, dosn’t help. I tested it already with PHP 7.4.9 also doesn’t help. It only works well for me with PHP 7.3.x I can’t stay here forever.
