PHP 7.4 Incompatability

I am getting this error
Notice: Trying to access array offset on value of type bool in /www/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/src/DLM.php on line 236
It would appear the developer has been aware of this issue for months now (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/php-7-4-trying-to-access-array-offset-on-value-of-type-bool-plugins-download-mo/) but there is still no fix in place. I am updated to the latest version and still getting the error printing on the front end.
Is there a date for an actual fix, or should I recommend my clients find a different plugin?
