PHP 8.1 compatibility

Hi @whitestonedev although these warnings are harmless, they indicate some areas that we need to address in our software to ensure compatibility with PHP 8.1. I apologize for any inconvenience caused. However, please note that the update addressing this compatibility may not be available soon.

For now, I would suggest two options. You can either ignore these warnings as they do not pose any immediate threat or turn them off. If you’re unsure how to disable PHP warnings in the error log, I recommend reaching out to your hosting provider. They should be able to assist you in resolving this matter.

PHP Warning and Deprecated notices are not “harmless” when you try to test PHP compatibility in big picture and find the actual issues from code. This plugin outputs 35 rows of messages for every page load that makes almost impossible to find the real issues.

Please update the priority to fix the warnings.

I agree with @veerap, we have the same issue and our logs are overflowing. Disabling logs is not a solution to any error, and this one was reported at least 4 months ago according to my searches. Please fix this error and not ignore it.

Hey everyone, here’s an update on the current situation.

Right now, our team is focused on the development of a new version of WP RSS Aggregator that will overhaul most of the plugin’s code. As part of this major project, the plugin will be fully compatible with PHP 8.1.

Since this is a major undertaking, we’ve chosen to prioritize the new version before addressing the PHP warnings in the current version. This is also partly because some of the warnings are coming from an older third-party library which is no longer supported, and which we are now completely replacing.

You will receive full access to the new version as a free update, so you’ll not only be getting full PHP 8.1 compatibility but also a range of other performance and experience improvements.

Although I understand this may not be the answer you were looking for in the short term, we’re doing our best to make sure it’s worthwhile for everyone in the long run. Our goal remains to build and maintain a solution that will be around for as long as possible.

thanks for the update Mikey. Do you have an ETA on this major update release? This plugin seems to be a culprit for slow loading times on our website.
