• We are using the “Church” theme by Themehall. https://themehall.com/free-responsive-church-theme-wordpress

we added code to the functions.php file using the “editor” but the code has disappeared. We recently posted about CSS disappearing from style.css file because we altered it using “Editor” and the remedy was to download a plugin that allowed us to add custom css.

We understand that using the “editor” to alter theme files is not the way to go but how could we make the edits that we need to keep them?

We wanted to redirect members of the website to a music playlist once they logged in.

Are you modifying the theme itself, or applying them to a child theme?

If you modify the theme itself, all modifications are essentially removed whenever the theme is updated, as updating the theme replaces each theme file, which is why we always recommend creating a child theme for modifications.
