• This plugin is a major tool for anticipating and averting untold disaster during a PHP upgrade, such as …. can’t tell you … didn’t have any.

Many people who use this plugin will hopefully be using this, before their PHP upgrade, rather than afterwards.

There are a few steps to do when upgrading, and using this plugin reduces much risk, and alerts to plugins that may need caution.

In some PHP upgrade steps, there are additional tasks to do.
e.g. when upgrading to PHP 7 the mysqli module has to be used, and the previous mysql module is not needed.

It would be really handy to have instructions or links to instructions (which may be on the WordPress site) within this plugin.

This suggestion might be considered “beyond the scope” of this plugin,
but it is a very useful extension of capability without needing much additional work.

  • As someone who does not know code, I really need instructions, such as 549 use mysqli & “safe mode” deprecated & removed. What does it mean & how do I do it?

    Hi,
You can copy and paste that report, and goto the wordpress page for the plugin that PHP Compatibility Checker has identified that error with. Go to the support page for that plugin.
Then paste that text in a post message for them to sort the problem out.

You do not need to know how to fix the problem.
