    PHP copyright server-side script is completely removed from Shopkeeper theme footer option at time (moment of) publishing in the WordPress Customizer . . every-time . .

    Is that Wordfence automatic and invisible protection from (PHP) server-side script execution by excision ? Or is that Shopkeeper theme in WordPress Customizer ‘disallowing’ PHP (copyright) server-side script in the footer ?

    If Wordfence (latest version, in the right now) is the ‘guardian’ then we are unable to see any info or data reported in the back-end for our attention and we are asking how we may allow the harmless PHP copyright server-side script to save and execute and output to appear in the footer area of our Shopkeeper theme (latest version, in the right now) ?

    PHP script (re-)source : https://updateyourfooter.com/

    And, yes, in the, distant, past we may indeed have encountered a, by now unremembered, interactive or show-stopping warning from Wordfence about such ‘vulnerability’ and accepted the wisdom of the Wordfence plugin and so are no longer getting any such warning but the ‘proper’ outcome of our earlier acquiescence .

    So, for now, we manually update the years in the footer by typing text (yes, that is only once each year, at new year) .

    Are we missing something obvious like it’s old news ?

    Where should we be looking for the ‘skinny’ ?

    Your word ?

    Thanking you for a tremendously useful and helpful WordPress CMS security plugin ~ Wordfence .

    Mean-time and for now,
    At your disposal,
    Stuart :-}

  • Hey @boutiquelife,

    Thanks for all of the information.

    Wordfence has an option to disable PHP execution in the uploads directory, but I don’t see how it can be affecting your script in the footer.php. Are you able to reliably reproduce this? If so, please temporarily disable Wordfence to see if it resolves the issue. If it doesn’t, I’d suggest contacting your theme’s support for their thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Gerald

    Hello wfgerald,

    Thank you for your informative responsiveness .

    Yup, you are fully correct . Wordfence is neither the offender nor the enabler . Shopkeeper theme and WordPress CMS Customizer are the obstacle to implementation . We are able to resolve the bump in the customisation path by child-theming the footer.php file and adding the PHP script ourselves to the, now, properly customisable footer.php file stored in the child theme directory . . learned with the assist and thanks to Shopkeeper theme support for their guidance . Regret the finger-pointing . Yes, we chose to ‘off’ selective protection options in the Wordfence all options page without any change and then to deactivate the Wordfence plugin altogether and again to no change whatsoever to the behaviour of the footer customise option which, blithely, continues to automatically and without any announcement or other dialogue or confirmation, remove the ‘harmless’ PHP copyright script . After the assist of Shopkeeper theme support we are able to report and confirm the positive outcome that we sought and confirm the ‘solution’ is sticking :-}

    Appreciate your kind return and prompt responsiveness . . apology for wasting your time and other resources . , honestly, just can’t imagine a WordPress CMS install without Wordfence . . thank you .

    Much appreciated . . much obliged . .
    Yours sincerely,
    Stuart :-}

    Hey @boutiquelife (Stuart),

    No worries at all, that’s what we’re here for. I’m just happy to hear you were able to track this down.

    Please let us know if anything else comes up.

    Thanks,

    Gerald
