• Hello,
from over a year I’m trying to update my site’s php version to higher, but Polylang not allowing me because it throws error in php 5.5, 5.6, 7, 7.1, so I am on 5.4. When the plugin is turned off the site works great with higher php versions? I hope that every next new version will solve the problem – but not.

    Hi,

Is this the only error message? I would expect more. The wpml-config in the error makes me think to the sticky topic https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/issue-with-polylang-since-2x-malformed-wpml-configxml-files/

Try deactivating your theme (switch to Twenty Sixteen) and all other plugins.

I’m using Twenty Sixteen theme /I use only default themes by the way/, this is the only error message.
I tested all other 5 plugins with new php and everything works fine. When turn on polylang and go to index page it shows the error. Then I need to choose php 5.4 version. When the site url is without the prefix /?lang=bg /because it is in Bulgarian/ also gives me the error.
Also with polylang versions <2 gave me the same error

my wordpress version is newest – 4.7.3 and polylang is today’s update

Sorry. I misread the error message. The error is not in wpml-config but wp-config.
So probably not linked with Polylang. The error says that output started at line 1 of your wp-config.php. So the issue should be there.
