Currently trying out your free plugin and have an issue with it. When I try to do a full back up of my site I get a php max time out error and the system hangs. I’ve reset the time out to 6000 and still no luck. I’ve disabled my security and again no luck. I spoke with my hosting service and this is what they told me.

    “Hello Boris,

It looks like you have 26.16GB of data on this account which is why the backup is timing out. Unfortunately, a backup plugin is not going to work with this much data as you will consistency hit the max_execution_time limit on our shared servers. We recommend using the cPanel backup wizard to backup your website.”

I can back up my database, plugins,??? and themes, but I’m not able to back up the file base, nor can I back up the entire site at one time. Each one of the back ups need to be one at a time, except the file base as it will not back up at all. It reaches 30% and then stops and goes no further. Are there any solutions to this issue or do I need to use the cpanel back up as suggested by the hosting company. Hope to hear a solution to this issue soon. Thank you.

    Hi,

UpdraftPlus is engineered to not need to finish all its work within one max_execution_time; it can resume and carry on. But, it sounds like you need to reduce the amount of data being processed at once. To do this, do this:

    1) Go to the UpdraftPlus settings tab

    2) Scroll to the bottom, and open the ‘expert’ section

    3) Reduce the ‘split’ size down to 60Mb, and then save the settings

    Then start a fresh backup.

    Best wishes,
    David
