• Hi there. I’ve been trying to get WordPress running on my site for a few weeks now to no avail. Whenever I run any PHP file, it simply displays the code itself in plain text in the web browser, rather than actually doing anything with it.

I’ve tried installing it manually as well as through Softaculous and Fantastico, tried changing the extension from php to php5, tried running it with WampServer, tried editing the .htaccess file, but nothing has worked at all. I tried e-mailing customer support but they were pretty much unable to help me.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I’ve literally tried every fix I could find on the net and have had 0 success. Apparently my server is running 5.2.15, if that makes any difference. Thanks.

  • Login to your web hosting control panel, and ensure that PHP is enabled to run on the domain – I’ve been caught out once by that before…

I can’t seem to find a toggle for PHP anywhere on cpanel, or any indication that it’s running at all really, aside from that it lists the PHP version as “5.2.15.” It’s not listed in the services section (just mysql). I haven’t really used PHP before so at first I thought it’d be in the same vein as javascript and just run in the browser. Then I changed the default program for PHP to php-cgi, but it just spits out text too fast to read then closes.
