PHP shell_exec() function erorr

    I installed the plugin today and got the following message on my dashboard: “Special Note: Hi, please note that PHP shell_exec() function is either not enable in your hosting environment or not been given executable permission, hence you won’t be seeing the following results above: CPU/Core count, Real Time CPU Usage, Server Uptime. To see these details, please ask your host to enable shell_exec() function and give it executable permission.”

    I sent a message to my host (SiteGround) and they said that the shell_exec() function is indeed enabled. Is there a reason why I can’t see the CPU usage, etc. details? (Because those are the reason I installed the plugin to begin with!) ??

    Hi,
    I know, SiteGround has this issue that’s why I’ve added this message inside the plugin. I don’t know why sitegroud lies about this. In siteground system shell_exec() is partially enable and it cannot be used to call any server function.

    If you don’t trust, open up the plugin’s code. Search for shell_exec() and copy any of those commands to sitegroud and say it is not working. They will say you don’t have permission for this.

    That’s why I said: “PHP shell_exec() function is either not enable in your hosting environment or not been given executable permission”.

    Unfortunately, this was SiteGround’s response:

    “So it looks like plugin tries to read information from system partition called /proc which contains information about server’s CPU and real-time statistic.

    This is not a standard shell_exec function and is not something we can allow on our shared servers as that would compromise the security of our servers.

    If you need an access to that information you will need to have a dedicated server: ”

    So unless there is a workaround for that (which I’m guessing there isn’t) I won’t be able to use your plugin ?? I appreciate your response and your help, and just wanted you to know what SiteGround’s official response was in case anybody else asks you a question about it!

    Trust me I know their response and it’s not just siteground a lot of people do that for no good reason. That’s why I’ve included that note. Sorry man!
