Php update? Maybe a fresh WP install would be best?

  • My WP cp says: WordPress has detected that your site is running on an insecure version of PHP.

    When I login to my hosting cp and go to select php version it shows that I’m using 5.6 but I can set it to 7.4 If I do that will my wp site still work?

    Also if I decide to install wp from scratch should I first set the php to 7.4? When I’m in my hosting cp I see my current installations that I can remove it, to start fresh would I just do that and then do instsall now?

    Appreciate the help.
