• Hi WP forum folks…when I go to my main menu of items, and get various notifications, one is that I need to update PHP from 5.6 to 7.3 If I do that, it breaks my mail form. I have to call in to the hosting company and get them to roll back the PHP ver, which fixes it. Is there anything I need to alter on the PHP form itself to resolve this after upgrading? I saw someone mention in another topic that he altered the htaccess file on the server at the top level. Is that what I should do? I’m not an expert on PHP, but please advise if you know the answer…or, if I just need to ride it out on PHP 5.6 on the WP build.
    Thanks!

Are you using a plugin for this mail form?

    Howdy!

While it may sound like you might be experiencing the same thing as another site, there could be something else going on.

As t-p asked, what plugin are you using?

It could be that a plugin is not compatible with the latest version of PHP. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen it.

The best way to really help us out would be by sharing what the error message, supposing there is one. If not, can you explain what you mean by break the form? Your definition might be vastly different to mine or others who are looking to help.

Thanks, guys. I don’t believe I’m using a plugin for the mailer. We had this form in place before we migrated the site to WordPress. So I’d say no. I do have other plugins on the site in use, but there shouldn’t be one for the mailer. As for the error all I saw in the browser was a generic 500 error. Nothing showed in the dev console.
    Thanks.

And by breaking the form, I simply mean the success confirmation page won’t get called with the newer php version but will when it’s rolled back to 5.6.

Then it’s probably a feature of your yoko theme.

If so, I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/yoko so the theme’s developers and support community can help you with this.

Ok, then. Thanks. I’ll run it by this group to see if they know anything about it.
