• We are getting the following errors in our error_log file:

[12-Aug-2016 08:57:20] PHP Warning: require_once(vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/init.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/thecoma5/public_html/thecollaborativebeta/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/wordfence.php on line 51

Can you help me figure out what is causing these messages?

  • Hi Jane,
Are you using an old version of Wordfence?

Thanks so much for checking in! We now have the latest version of WordPress installed but it’s possible when this error was generated (on August 12, 2016) that we didn’t.

Just so I know – Can you explain what would generate these error messages? Was there a particular file that was missing at the time the error was generated?

    Hi Jane,
Okay, just wanted to make sure! Yes it was either missing, corrupt or had the wrong owner/permissions which would have made it inaccessible. Why it was inaccessible is hard to say. I can think of one scenario where this could theoretically happen; if for example someone tried to visit your site in the midst of it being restored from a backup. In other words, it’s likely that something was going on with your file system a this time. Unless you are seeing the error frequently of course. If you are seeing it all the time I would suggest you remove the wordfence folder in the wp-content/plugins folder and replace it with a fresh copy.
