Here is my config:
Redirect type : 301 Redirect (SEO )
Redirect to: Custom URL
Custom URL: blog home page
Log 404 Errors: Enagle Error logs
Email notifications: is not checked
Email address: webmaster domain address
Exclude paths: nothing here

Could you please try adding something in that? try something like

https://google.com

Joel – This seems to resolve the error. I entered a path and caused a 404. I was notified about the 404 event, but no error in the PHP error log.
