PHP7 Compatibility – seems okay on WP 4.8.1 after 3 scans for PHP7 on PHP7
-
Just to let you know.
PHP Compatibility Checker was used to check our last two versions of PHP compatibility, before each upgrade.
The upgrades went well as far as the PHP Compatibility Checker went.
(We just had to set up the mysqli PHP module in PHP7.)We are now running PHP7, and using the checker to check additional plugins for PHP7 compatibility after installation, but before activation.
This plugin is a very good piece of kit.
Anybody and every body (millions of us) would greatly benefit from use of this plugin, to smoothen their upgrade path to PHP 7, from as far back as PHP versions in the low 5’s.
Not only can you check for compatibility, but you can also grab the detected error lines in a plugin or theme, and send them off to the developers, for them to bring up to date.
If plugins and themes that passed the scan, have given no trouble after the upgrade, you can also confirm to their developers that they do well on the PHP version you run them at.I expect to see the downloads graph for this plugin, fly off the chart, and only begin to drop off after about 80% of WP sites have already upgraded (apparently only about 4% are using PHP7 at present).
We eagerly look forward to having the ability to check PHP7.1 included.
