    hi,
i am trying to setup a woocommerce shop to complement a brick and mortar store. These goods are variable products with different sizes.
The store reference code for each product (for all sizes) is the same. The question is – can this reference number be used as an SKU?
Or is it better to create a separate column to reference it for stock keeping?

My reason for confusion is SKU for variations are recommended to be different as defined in the woocommerce import documents

    Hello there,
There’s not a technical restriction to use the same SKUs for variations in a variable product.

If in your case you want to use the SKU for this reason, then I would suggest defining the SKU for variable products in the Inventory tab instead of each variation.

This way the SKU would be the same one for the entire product without triggering a duplicate SKU error.
