piano-black 2.2 removed formatting and Pages won't display

  • Hey everyone-

    I upgraded my piano-black theme from 1.5 to 2.2 and the effect was that it got rid of most all of the formatting, especially the header of pages and the actual black background. The page has the title and two columns for the posts and the sidebar but no background (it’s white) nor other stylized piano-black features (like the search bar).

    When I upgraded from wordpress 2.9.2 to 3.01 the effect was that the pages no longer display, they say “The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated.” This is very strange since they show up in my dashboard and database and they are published and the permalinks have not changed.

    I might just have to go back to the old wordpress and old piano-black, but it seems very odd to me that the newer versions break things.

    If you have any advice on how to make the new versions compatible with each other and not screw everything up that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Well it seems my version of 2.9.2 is corrupted. The closest to working I have gotten it is wordpress 3.0.1 and piano-black 1.5, but I am still having the page issue. I just don’t understand how the pages can exist in my DB and show up properly in the dashboard, and be published with proper links and still erroring/not existing.

    For the pages not displaying, the problem ended up that I had copied the directory incompletely – I didn’t get any of the hidden files. Apparently there is a .htaccess “dotfile” that is very important and needs to be in the folder, but is hidden so it didn’t transfer when I did select all and dragged the files into my FTP client. Once I told it to view hidden files, copy paste did the trick.

    I’m still using version 1.5 of piano black though. I haven’t had a chance to upgrade to 2.2 since I didn’t want to accidentally break anything further.

    did anyone get help on this. i’m having a problem too in firefox, none of the background is showing up and the nav bar is not working. it’s like the entire css file is gone.
