    Hey there,

It seems like, since the last update, that Picking a Child Category also activates the Parent Category for a Product.

It behaves like this – It only happens when i change somethings in the back-end,
for example i add some text to the product post type, and after updating the product, suddenly the parent category gets activated ( without me clicking it )

Even when quick-editing a product ( even when i don’t change something, just click on the update button ), the parent category becomes “activated” —`

Is this behaviour intentional? How can it be reverted?

    All the best,
    Niko

    Hi @nikoaltmann

In a recent update, the way category hierarchy used to work in Dokan has been changed. Previously, the way it used to work is if a product is categorized under a sub-category, it did not explicitly show what was the parent category of it. Now, it is taking the parent category and breaking it down to the child category so that the product is shown under both parent and child categories.
For instance, if you have a category of “Digital devices” and its child category “Smartphones”, you will now see all “Smartphone” products under both “Smartphones” and “Digital devices” categories, since a smartphone is essentially a digital device.
Now, if you save (after editing/quick editing) a previously uploaded product that is under a child category, the parent category will get selected. In fact, if you save your product from the WP dashboard, it will work the same way.

This behavior is intentional, so if you want to revert back and save your products without the parent category, you may need to change product data directly from the database.
