    Hi,

I use the photo gallery on a Norwegian wordpress site, and when I search for images and use Norwegian special characters int the search phrase like ?,? and ?, I get more images in the results. The translation of the photo gallery plugin into Norwegian, is only about 3% completed, and that’s maybe why this is happening?

If I use the letter o instead of ? in a word, I get the correct results.

    Thanks.

    Eric

    Hello, dear @klf700 ,

Thanks a lot for reaching out,

Are we right to assume your website’s DB is using UTF-8 COLLATE collation?
In this case our plugin’s tables are created in accordance with your DB collation and in COLLATE UTF-8 “a” is identical to “?” hence the search results not differentiating them,

Please, try checking this material on best collation practices for Danish/Norwegian characters – it might be useful for your case,

Thanks, keep us posted and ha det bra =)

    Thanks @nikitaanisimov for your reply.

The collation on the database is utf8mb4_unicode_ci whatever that means. I see the gallery tables are also uses that collation.

I will try to check more about the Danis/Norwegian collation. Maybe changing the collation would solve the problem.

    Thanks ??
