We’re currently building our website using Oxygen Builder in WordPress. We are wanting to use imagify to replace our site’s images with the .webp format. It is my understanding that because of this, we should be using the Imagify option for using <picture> tags to modify .htaccess. However, we’re also using Cloudflare, and just learned yesterday via the Imagify FAQ that this will cause problems with replacing our images with webp format.

    1) how does Cloudflare break the htaccess rewrite for Imagify, exactly?
    2) is there any way around that issue, assuming we want to continue to use Cloudflare?
    3) is there another plausible option for using Imagify alongside Oxygen builder?

    Thanks!

    Hi @ltracy

    Thank you for contacting us!

We don’t suggest you use Cloudflare with the “Use rewrite rules” option for WebP display because any first visit on your site will trigger cache creation in Cloudflare, and if that visit is from a browser that supports WebP, the WebP versions will be cached. Future visitors will be served these WebP images from cache whether they use a browser that supports WebP or not, causing blank space where the image should be for those without WebP support.

When using Cloudflare we recommend to choose the picture tags way to display your WebP images.

Let me know if you need further assistance. I’ll be happy to help.

    Best Regards,

    Ioanna
