Pictures in the Slider on Homepage

Hi,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place – I’m new to this. Or if the answer is Codex – I looked but couldn’t see anything.

I have a slider on my homepage which has space for pictures. The wording suggests I add a custom field to the post containing a link to the picture. I’ve tried this but the pictures are still not visible on the homescreen.
