After the 1.19.0 update, all of my pin titles and descriptions for all images disappeared

When i roll the plugin back to the previous version, they come back.

    Please advise.

  • Hey Robin,

Thanks so much for reaching out! I’ve done some testing on my end but haven’t been able to replicate the same issue you’re experiencing on your side of things.

If at all possible, would you be able to let me know if you’re using another plugin to add in the Pinterest Titles and Descriptions to the images?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly – yes, she is using

jQuery Pin It Button for Images

Should I disable it and then try it

    Robin

Chiming in here as I have the same issue. The fields for pin data and pin title are missing after updating.

I don’t use any other sharing buttons or plugins.

I’ve also rolled back to the previous version and the missing fields are there along with the previous data.

Don’t know what info will help you, I did deactivate these plugins to see if they were conflicting, but deactivating them did not help.
    Black Studio TinyMCE Widget
    Classic Editor
    Rank Math SEO
    Rank Math Pro

I’m on the Trellis framework (no child theme)

    Hey @tlc72,

Thanks so much for reaching out and for providing that information! Just for clarity, are you talking about the Pinterest Title and Description fields that show up in the post editor in one of the advanced panels labeled “Grow: Share Options”?

While they shouldn’t have existed in the 1.18.2 update, they were present in our 1.18.0 and a 1.18.1 updates when we combined some of the code from our Pro version over to this version of Grow Social. When done, some of these settings from the Pro version were inadvertently (like the ones I mentioned above) added into this version.

Since 1.18.2 and onward, these settings should no longer appear as they were originally only intended for the Pro version. Depending on the version you updated from it’s possible you had these fields previously, but now no longer will see them in this update.

For @rbennett this could be the same situation if they also updated from an older version. For Robin, would you be able to also confirm if you’re referring to the fields in the post editor labeled “Grow Social: Share Options”?

I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same thing, but we could be!

I’m talking about when I have a photo in a blog post, I click on the edit photo button and it opens a pop up box where I can input the alt text, add a link, etc…

The older version of Grow had two fields that are missing in the newer version:
    Pin Title
    Pin Description

I use the classic wordpress editor. I’m not sure exactly what you’re referring to regarding the options you mentioned, but it sounds like that may be in the Gutenberg editor.

    Does that make sense?

    Hey @tlc72,

Thanks so much for getting back to me and sorry for the delay! I went ahead and fired up a test site on my side of things with the Classic Editor and was able to replicate a similar experience on my end with the older/newer versions of Grow Social.

Similar to the response above, these are also additional options that were only intended to be available for the Pro version of the plugin that made it into our 1.18.x builds of the plugin and we’ve since removed those for the 1.19.0 version.

So sorry about the inconvenience there!

Makes sense! No worries… Thanks for researching and explaining.

I disabled jQuery Pin It Button for Images and cleared the cache and she is still having the same issue when we updated to 1.19.0

When i roll it back to 1.18.2 and update it from there it does NOT work

so I rolled it back to 1.18.1 and updated to 1.19.0 and it does NOT work

Rolled it back to 1.18.0 and updated to 1.19.0 and still does not work

    Any more suggestions?

    Robin

    Hey Robin,

With the non-Pro version of Grow Social we don’t offer the capability of adding Pinterest Titles or Descriptions to images. There was a slight bug in a previous release that made those options available but we’ve since fixed that in the 1.19.0 release.

Out of curiosity, is the person you’re working with supposed to be on the Pro version of the plugin as opposed to the Free version?

Additionally, you mentioned in your initial post that rolling back fixed the issue. Is she inputting these Pin Titles/Descriptions within Grow Social or is she using a different plugin entirely to handle this?

    Hey there,

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from you so we’re going to go ahead and close this thread. If there’s anything else you need please don’t hesitate to start a new one!
