    #header {
        border-top: #111 3px solid;
    }

    and change #333 for the footer

    #copyright {
        ... some codes go here...

        border-top: #333 1px solid;

        ... some codes go here ...
    }

    Do not make changes to the theme files – you should use the Custom CSS option in your theme for changes so that they are not overwritten when the theme is updated. Custom CSS is under
    Appearance > Theme Options > Layout

    Okay so i made the changes works perfect.

    I had to change the #footer as well to get rid of the border. Seems the only problem I have is getting the correct css.

    Thanks for the help
