• I loaded Pinboard earlier today, and started work on my website. I accomplished everything that I wanted for the day, except for one thing.

I can’t get my Site Title to appear ABOVE my Header Image. Instead the Header Image appears first on the page, and the Site Title appears beside it.

I’m sure that I’m missing something obvious, but I’ve spent a few hours experimenting and browsing the internet for an answer and couldn’t solve it.

How do I get my Site Title to float above my Header Image?

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for responding

Yes, I had read that documentation – but it seems to be out of date. The screen shots don’t match what I am seeing in Pinboard, and I’m seeing different options from those which they describe.

I haven’t found an option yet which allows me to have the site title float over the header image.

    Regards

Could you post a link to your site, please?
I have installed Pinboard on my dev site and I would like to compare.

The theme header section says this…

While you can crop images to your liking after clicking Add new image, your theme recommends a header size of 196 × 48 pixels.

…which is quite small and default placement is beside the title.
If you upload a larger image (I used 1000×625), then the cropping window appears. The default cropping take the width and auto sets a height that, when cropped, does not completely cover the width of the header, but does push the title below it.
What happens though, is that the menu pushes down under the title also and the bottom of the menu is partially covered.
I will leave this link up to where I installed the theme on my dev site so you can see it, then take it down once you reply.

I’ve realised that the obvious thing for me to do is to use Photoshop or Gimp to incorporate my site title into the header image. This is the path that I’m now going down.

But – for the benefit of anyone else that ends up wanting to float their site title over the header image – I’ll temporarily take the site back to the state that was giving me the problem.

I had tried with a larger image. The larger image also pushes my title down on the page. I’ve updated my site with a larger image, and I hope that you’ll see what I mean. What I want is for the title to float above the image.

Sorry – but I can’t see any link in your post.

    Thanks

    Because you answered above…

…I thought that you had decided to tak ehtis route, so I took it down, but what you posted…

…is excatly what the default of the theme does.

What I want is for the title to float above the image.

That would incur a redesign to the theme’s template codes.

I think that our posts are crossing – and that this maybe creating some confusion.

My understanding of what you are saying is that there is no easy way to get the Site Title to float above the Header Image. Is that correct?

In my case that is fine – I will just use an image editor to incorporate the Site Title into the Header Image graphic.

    Thanks for your help.

Probably the best idea with this theme, but you could look for another theme that would do what you want: WordPress Theme Directory

    Thanks for your help.

    You’re welcome. ??
