    Hi!

I am using Polylang with Pinnacle Theme. Everything works good. But I cannot see just one string for “Icon menu button text” from the Theme settings. Earlier it was avaliable, I am pretty sure.
I have tried to register this string in functions.php by ” add_action(‘init’, function() {pll_register_string(‘Icon menu button text’, ‘Read more’);}); “, it appeared in strings translation menu, but does not work for the site.
I cannot find this line in Loco Translate because I input it in the field in Theme options. All other inputed texts appeared in Strings translations and work great.
How can I handle this issue?

Thank you in advance for help!

  • Hey,
I’ll have to add this to the wpml-config.xml file. This will go in the next update:

    <key name="home_icon_menu_btn" />

just a note, if you leave it blank then it defaults to “read more” and you would be able to translate that on a language by language basis in loco translate.

    Thanks for posting!

    Hi!

If leave blank button do not appear so I added the line to wpml-config.xml file and it finally worked!

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,

I’m having the same problem with the following:
    1. Read More
    2. Call to Action Text
    3. Latest from the Blog
They don’t show up in the polylang’s String translations.

    The following two:
    1. Call to Action Button Text
    2. Call to Action Button Link
They show up in the String translations and they are translated but the translations never shows up on the site.

Please advise how can I fix those problems.

    Thanks,
    Nace

    Hey,

In the future, please start a new topic with all support requests. Thanks!

Have you tried editing the strings with locotranslate? I suggest checking within the plugin to see if you can find the strings that way:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/loco-translate/

Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks Kevin, and yes I will have that in mind for the next time.

I already tried loco-translate but no luck, the strings are there and after translating them, they are still not translated in the website.

My website is: https://www.themagicoftraveling.com/ if that would help ??

Did you clear your site’s cache after making the string changes in loco?

    Hey,
Are you editing the “Latest from the Blog” text in your theme options > home layout.

Because if that input box is empty then the text wouldn’t show in a polylang string translation.

The translation would take place in the .po/.mo file through loco translate.

Then you work in Loco translate and translate this theme which language code are you selecting.

Read more wouldn’t ever show up in the polylang string translations. Polylang string translations are only to translate text that you are setting in the admin. Read more is just a normal string you would translate through something like loco translate.

I just tested with polylang and was able to use polylang string translation for the call to action text, button and link.

When I look at your site I don’t see these things added. Can you confirm you have content in each input area of your theme options and then can you enable it?

    Ben

    Hey Ben,

sorry for the late response, I was offline for some time.
Now all the input fields are populated with content and the call to action section is enabled.
    the strings are:
Our latest blog posts -> Най-новите ни публикации
Many blog posts from all our travels wait for you to discover -> Още много публикации от нашите пътешествия чакат да ги разгледаш
Check other blog posts -> Разгледай още публикации
    https://www.themagicoftraveling.com/blog-en/ -> https://www.themagicoftraveling.com/blog/

All these are translated in the polylang strings translations.
Read more… is translated in Loco.
The site cache has bean cleared several times but no luck seeing those translated strings.

I will leave it as it is and I hope you will have the chance to check it.

    Bunch of thanks,
    Nace

Without seeing your settings I don’t have any way to determine the issue.

In your loco translate settings the po file is: pinnacle-bg_BG.po?

I would suggest turning off caching for a period so you don’t have to worry if it’s interfering. I would also make sure your host is not adding there own caching.

I also suggest trying to change the url modifications like using: The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks

    Ben

    Hey Ben,

yes the file name is pinnacle-bg_BG.po

I can try disabling the cache and see if something changes.

I’m not a fan of changing the url modifications as this can mess up my existing urls.

I will let you know once the cache is disabled.

    Thanks,
    Nace

I’m not a fan of changing the url modifications as this can mess up my existing urls.

    – Simply as a way to test, I recommend. I recall having others in the past that couldn’t use polylang string translation unless they were on The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks. I’m not sure why but even users that changes and changed back had it work.

I just tested using “The language is set from content” and loco translate won’t work with that. I verified with another theme as well that this is not an issue with the theme but with polylang.

I created a new loco translate translation and when setting up the translation: “Choose a location” this time I chose “System:’ and that worked using the “The language is set from content” in polylang.

BUT still string translations did not work while using “The language is set from content”

So I suggest asking Polylang support if they have a suggestion for using “The language is set from content” and using string translations.
