• Hello!

I’ve recently installed the beautiful Pique theme on my self-hosted WordPress site here: markcasey.co

Everything looks and works great, except that the background images do not load properly on mobile. I’ve tested this on both an iPhone 5 and iPhone 6.

The first image below the header loads only in part (it’s cropped to be very small…) and then all images below that one don’t load at all.

I haven’t done much customization outside of the header, so it may be something there, but I’m baffled.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi there,

Thank you for reporting this! Your site loaded correctly on my Android device but two of my colleagues were able to reproduce the issues you described on their iPhones.

I’ve sent a report to the developers behind this theme and will let you know when I hear back from them.

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

As an extra note: We weren’t able to replicate the issue on the theme’s demo site and, so, I was wondering if you were running any plugins that could be interfering with the theme’s code.

Could you please check your active plugins and list them in your next reply?

Additionally, if you think any could be interfering with your theme’s code, please try temporarily deactivating it and then seeing if that resolves the issue.

Let me know how that goes.

    Hello!

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

My plugins are listed below — also note that I do NOT have Jetpack currently activated:

    Contact Form 7
    SiteOrigin page builder
    Site origin widgets bundle
    Toolset types
    Wordpress Importer

I’m not sure if any of those would cause this. Possibly Contact Form 7 (I have a form embedded in the page)? I just deactivated Toolset Types because this theme does not use it.

I also edited the CSS in the header/hero area with additional padding, spacing, and colors. Could that be the culprit?

    Thank you!

    Hello,

We did some further testing on my own self-hosted test site and replicated the issue. As we weren’t able to replicate on the theme’s demo site, it seems that this is limited to self-hosted sites and we’re going to investigate further.

    I’ll keep you updated!

    Hello!

I appreciate all of your work on this. Are there any updates? I have not made any discoveries on my end. Thank you for all your help!

    Hi there. ??

I’m happy to report that one of our developers has fixed the issue and submitted an update of the theme to the www.ads-software.com repository.

Every theme update is reviewed by the WordPess.org Theme Review team before being deployed and I can’t give you a guaranteed time frame for when this will happen, though updates are usually reviewed within two weeks.

Keep an eye on the Updates section of your admin area for notification of when the update has been deployed.

Let me know if any other questions come up in the meantime.

    Excellent news!

I will watch for the update. Thank you!

    Hi @madcasey,

The update’s been pushed out. ?? Can you check for it and update your theme?

    Thanks!

    Hello again!

Thanks so much for the update. I checked for an update, installed it, and the images are working on mobile. Thank you so much!

Just as an FYI: The update stripped out my CSS customizations (colors, buttons, etc). No big deal — I know that can happen with updates. I will let you know if something strange happens when I try to change the CSS again, but otherwise it looks like problem solved!

    Thank you!

I’m happy to hear that the update fixed the issue with your images on mobile!

In regards to your CSS customisations: It is not recommended that you edit your theme’s files directly as changes will be lost when it comes time to update.

To add CSS to your theme, you should either set up a child theme or activate a custom CSS plugin.

If you have any questions on setting up a child theme, then please don’t hesitate to let me know.
