Piwik and DSGVO in Germany

  • Hi,

    the plugin we use one on of our websites is called “WP-Piwik” (not Matomo). [Why do we see the old name?]

    In Germany we have a new data safty rule called “DSGVO” (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datenschutz-Grundverordnung). Is Piwik something one has to mention in the “Datenschutzerkl?rung” (data privacy statement) of the website so that it is DSGVO-conform?

    I am unsure how to formulate such a text: I think it should contain that Piwik collects data [Does it?] and where and how long they are storaged. Are there any other points? Has Piwik prepared such an info-text I could copy-and-paste?

  • Natürlich l?sst sich Matomo DSGVO konform einrichten. Am besten kurz die Suchmaschine des Vertrauens bemühen… Mit diesem Plugin hat das wenig zu tun.
