After many years, we have decided to discontinue our free WordPress plugin, Pixel Caffeine.
During these years Facebook has evolved a lot and, fortunately for those of us who build on their platform, extended their support and simplified their interface to offer a more user-friendly experience.

The advertising ecosystem was very different few years ago when we created Pixel Caffeine, but now we feel that the need for a dedicated plug-in — and the time and resources required to maintain it — are not as strong and the time has come for us to close this project.

Effective today, Pixel Caffeine will no longer have any new versions or updates coming out and will stop working on October 1st, 2021.

For those of you still actively using the Pixel Caffeine plugin, fear not: everything created in Pixel Caffeine has always been synced live with Facebook and all your audiences are available to use in Facebook Ads Manager.

WordPress now has an official page, built in collaboration with Facebook, on how to best manage the Facebook pixel, included with Installation instructions and a list of built-in support of additional plugins.

Thanks to all of you who came on this journey with us!

  • That’s Very Sad!
I really want to use this plugin. But I can’t connect to my Facebook. On clicking on Connect Facebook Button, nothing loads on the next screen. I know you guys are no longer maintaining this plugin but can you please start that connect facebook function again, Please!

@adespresso it seems not everyone was aware of this. In general there could have been a notification in the backend where users would be informed.

Can you provide the relevant steps or point affected users to some guide to get a working setup again, so they can use the correct solution in the future?

@adespresso where is the official page you mentioned?
    thanks.

It’s sad to see you go. It’s always been the best FB pixel plugin for us. I tried FB official plugin a few months ago when they introduced CAPI but their 2.5 star plugin had a lot of problems that I had to switch back. I told my FB account manager that their official plugin was a joke but maybe I will have to adapt to their plugin. Thanks for all the work you’ve done, I really appreciated it!

So, what’s the alternative? Maybe someone could fork the plugin? What else is out there?

The “official” Facebook plugin is awful. A far better alternative is PixelYourSite. Also implements Facebook Conversion API.

Thanks @scollonp ! I did install the “official” Facebook for Woocommerce plugin and after some woes I managed to get it to work on a couple sites, but the catalogs are very small, around 20 products.

I knew about PixelYourSite but completely forgot they have a free version of the plugin, I was under the impression it was all paid. I’m going to give it a whirl!

Yes, it’s free @stormymondays. Although the paid-for Pinterest extension is actually quite neat too.
