    Dear developers,

    I have the feeling that this is related to Jetpack.
    I have constants and tons of recurring error messages in the console:

    WebSocket connection to 'wss://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghub/wpcom/me/newest-note-data' failed: Error during WebSocket handshake: Unexpected response code: 403
    GET https://pixel.wp.com/boom.gif?v=0.9&u=https://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghub&json={%22beacons%22:[%22pinghub.conn_err.chrome:356|ms%22]} net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID
    GET https://pixel.wp.com/boom.gif?v=0.9&u=https://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghub&json={%22beacons%22:[%22pinghub.conn_close_code.1006.chrome:356|ms%22]} net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID
    • What is this? Is it from Jetpack?
    • What is boom.gif used for?
    • https://pixel.wp.com has indeed a self generated certificate, which is blocked by ANY mordern browser. This just cannot work. Is this also Jetpack?

    I disabled my ad blocker for the site, so the error is linked to the certificate error.
    Can I disable the source of these connections?
    Is this coming from Jetpack or WordPpress?

    thanks for any help!

    Hi there!
    Hm, that’s something related with the websocket.
    Could you do the test below and let me know what you find out?

    – Flush your site cache
    – Temporarily deactivate your caching plugin
    – Check if the Websocket console error appears when you are not logged into WordPress.com AND if you’re logged in.

    Let me know what you find out and thanks for the cooperation!
