So I’m having an issue whenever I upload an image to wordpress it become very pixelated after upload. I tried disabling all plugins but that didn’t do anything. Here’s an example

The issue i had a few days ago is the whole site crashed due to plug-in updates. I had to have my host restore the server from 3 days ago. Everything worked fine I disabled some plugins and the site is back up and running.

This is the only issue. the images are very pixelated once I upload.

If you’re still experiencing this issue, it may be that the original image size is too small, so it becomes pixelated because WordPress is trying to make a small image larger. If that’s not the case and the original images are large, you might consider using this plugin to regenerate the images and see if that works for you.

That plugin doesn’t work. All it does is re-cut the images to the correct thumbnail sizes. The problem is that the original images are compressed so heavily on upload.

So basically, if you can’t tell, I’m having the same issue. No plugins are contributing to this problem — it’s wordpress itself that’s making my images look like garbage. I save them at super high res (which is insane in the first place) and then upload but same results every time. WTF is going on with the image compression? How can I fix this?

Hey there guys, I was wondering if anyone found a fix for this?

I too am having this problem. Whenever I upload a high quality image to my blog post it comes up quite small, and if i try to make it larger it just gets really pixelated. I checked the large image settings and it all seems fine, but still no luck in getting large, good quality images to my post.

I would examine the area where you are trying to place the image using Firefox and Firebug. Once you have determined the size of the graphic holder, you could always use a free online photo resizer such as picmonkey.com to help with this.

another option worthy of looking into is configuring your WordPress installation to handle SVG image files. SVG are much better as they will look the same in quality regardless of size as this image type is designed to display an image correctly regardless if thumbnail or postboard size.

You could always take a look at Scalable Vector Graphics plugin in the repository.
