“Place order” button disappears for PayPal Express

Perhaps the reason I haven’t been selling kilts recently isn’t Covid after all?
The “Place order” button is there and works if a buyer selects “Direct bank transfer” but disappears (display = none) if they choose “PayPal Express”. This always used to work and I haven’t changed my PayPal password or anything. I haven’t been able to download and upgrade to the new version of WordPress though – could this be the problem?
Any idea what’s going wrong or how to fix it?
