• I would like to place google validation code into my theme to track traffic but I don’t know where to put the code. If it makes any difference my theme is Cutline 2.1. I asked the question at the cutline forum with no response.

I am new to wordpress having just come from Blogger so appreciate any help.

    Thanks.

The Analytics code needs to go just before the </body> tag at the bottom of the page. Depending on how your theme is set up, you could put the code in your theme’s footer.php file.

Ok. I have somehow deleted the content of the footer. Should i just paste it in there anyway?

    Thanks for the help.

Try putting it in the footer.php and then visit your blog pages and check to see that the Analytics code appears on every page just before the </body> tag.

The footer.php file will be included on your blog template files (like single.php for single post pages, etc.) wherever <?php get_footer(); ?> is placed.
