WordPress 5.4.2 in Docker container, PHP 7.4 (also checked on 7.2).

When I send a test email using the “Send Test Email” feature, everything works fine if the HTML switch is off: I’m getting the message “Plain text test email has been successfully sent!” notification, and the recipient receives an email.

If the HTML switch is set to “off” on the WP side, everything looks fine: I get the message “Test HTML email sent successfully! Check your inbox to make sure it’s delivered, “but the recipient is not receiving the message.

I am sure the target mail server is not a problem – I checked several mail servers (including my own without any filters and with access to Exim logs).

Everything works fine if I make a copy of this WP on another server (PHP 7.2, just LAMP, no docker) – all emails are delivered using the same SMTP settings.

    It’s weird, isn’t it?

    Any tips or ideas?

    Thanks
    Adam

  • Hi @adamlachut,

When you get a chance, could you please share the mailer and you’re using, possibly the screenshots of the settings area? The receiving mail server might be filtering the HTML emails based on content because you’ve probably not added proper DNS records to verify your domain or you’ve not authorized your account to send emails. Basically, the email you’re sending might not be authenticated.

    Thanks!

Hi @adamlachut – We haven’t heard from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
