Plans for local caching?

With browsers implementing cache partitioning, my understanding is that the best performance for fonts is now achieved by serving them from the same domain that hosts the site.

I know some plugins that allow loading up Google Fonts have started storing the font files locally and serving them that way. Are there any plans to build that sort of functionality into this plugin?
