This plugin is rather popular, it has the most downloads of all my plugins so far. I am going to make an effort to update this plugin with more information, my development board on Trello, and encourage support and further development, etc.

    This work should include:

    – Updating the info to be more accurate and more informational on WP.org
    – Getting the Trello Development board in the info
    – Updating the plugin meta, developer info, etc
    – Getting a bitbucket development workflow going for added development possibilities
    – Adding documentation areas in Codex

Oh, and I will also need to add aubreypwd as a committer.

Is there any way to add a hit-counter to this plugin?

I’ve seen some other “cloaking” plugins that have hit counters, but they appear to use a dynamic redirect that is built from a database entry. I have not examined the code of any of them closely, so that’s just a guess at the mechanism used. (The reason I’m looking around is that my old cloaking plugin hasn’t been updated in a long time, and is generating error log entries — which means that it would be *REALLY* cool to have an easy way to import lots of redirects into a new plugin)

I’m guessing that just doing a redirect from the .htaccess file would not permit this, at least not directly. I do have some ideas that I would like to test, but I am new to writing plugins, and a bit concerned that I don’t know enough about WP security.

Please let me know your thoughts on this (especially if I’m wrong).

Can you give me an example of what a hit-counter is?

A hit counter is a tally of how many times a link has been clicked. This is useful for tracking the effectiveness of an ad campaign.

I don’t think that is supported by this plugin which just simply re-directs users from one page to another using .htaccess. Sorry.

OK. I’m guessing it’s easier to do it that way, but a hit counter is something that is almost a requirement for any business.

I found another plugin that provides that, and seems to work ok for now. When I have some time, I plan to examine how it works.
