Player career stats

Hello

A recurring theme in responses to queries on this forum appears to be:
1. Submit request/query
2. Wait for response that is hardly ever forthcoming
3. Submit a second query on the same thread after a week or more of no response
4. A response is maybe received.

So, here goes.

Is there any way to overcome the problem I have with players’s careers stats not being captured/reflected. I know I can do this manually, but then we do live in the 21st Century.

As explained in my first attempt at getting some help on this issue, I have adopted a rather cumbersome way of selecting teams from a squad of players for games in different leagues.

I have tried to (again) populate teams in a legitimate manner. But this produces other issues, which is why I’ve ended up at a workaround that is fine if I want to populate details manually – which I don’t.

So the issues are (and I’m the first to admit this may be user error):

1. Selecting a team for a match
When I create a match, I then try select the team for that match. I have created a team for a particular league that draws players from a Player List. This List contains players from the Junior Squad – as explained in my first posting above.

When I select that team in the Match setup page, I get a response ‘No results found’. In many ways this suits me as the team for a match is but 11 players from a squad of 15 or more players. If I then select ‘Show all’ and select the playing 11 I then do get the list of players, with the relevant blocks for their match stats.

Once I hit Publish or Update on that match, though, those player names disappear from the page and I’m left only with a summary of the cumulative match stats. So, if I wanted to make adjustments or corrections I have to start over.

The good news is that this info does not feed into a player’s career stats so at least that kind of data is not all corrupted – although it does raise the question of why that data is not captured or reflected if I go to the player profile.

2. An almost bigger issue is that if I record any Extras into the match results, I then get an error: DataTables warning. table id=DataTables_Table_0 – Requested unknown parameter ‘2’ for row 0

And yes, I do have the latest version of the Sportpress for Cricket Plugin that claimed to have fixed some issue with extras.

I have no idea what this error means, and honestly don’t have the time or energy to go learn what this error refers to.

All of the above can be overcome if I was a complete masochist and preferred to enter all match and career stats manually.

And yes, I have not upgraded to the Pro version of Sportpress, with the apparent lack of concern for glaring technical errors (and little interest in addressing many of the nuances of the game of cricket scoring and stats) being the primary reasons for not handing over any cash to you.

I’d really appreciate it if you could:
1) Tell me that I’m doing it all wrong and point me to a resource that explains how to populate teams for matches so that data is captured correctly
2) Offer some assistance on the seeming technical quirks in the plugin with regard to selecting teams, entering match data, and having that tie back to a player’s career.
3) Inform me that these features are part of the paid-for Sportspress plugin and I shouldn’t be so stingy.

We usually handle the support in the main SportsPress forums ( https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/sportspress ) so this one was missed indeed.

Also a sidenote is that bigger topics like this aren’t recommended. Always try to break your issue down into smaller topics so we can reply accordingly (big topics usually lead to a lot of confusion and missed replies).

As for your issues:
1) This one is really weird. You shouldn’t lose your match data when updating. But the #2 error is probably related to this one.

2) This one usually means that there is an issue in your actual database. So maybe this is why reading / getting data isn’t working as it should.

A few recommendations so we can try to find where the issue is located exactly:
1) Backup everything just in case
2) What theme are you using? If you aren’t using rookie, please try activating it just to see how it works. If you are already, please update / reinstall it
3) Please disable all your plugins (except SP)
4) Please try disabling this plugin and enabling the main SP to see how it works in regards to adding the player data (#1)
5) Please try reinstalling it once again in case all the above won’t work.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll work through those and also some other tweaks/approaches that I’ve been contemplating as solutions.

I’ll report back so that – if I do find solutions – this can feed back into your processes or development of the plugin.
