There seems to be an issue with the Plyr based players (Bunny Stream’s player and Presto Player). When playing Bunny Stream videos, the player always chooses the highest possible bitrate, which in our case is 2160p (4K). After letting the player stream a video for a while on auto quality (default), the player jumps to 2160p even though the player’s actual resolution is much smaller. This issue even occurs on an old laptop screen with 1080p resolution (i.e., on a screen where there’s no reason to stream in 2160p since 1080p is enough even in full screen mode).

With Bunny Stream’s default encoding settings, this issue causes consumption of five times the bandwidth (25,000 kbps instead of 5,000 kbps).

I’ve reported the issue to Bunny CDN as well.
