I’m not sure where else to post this question.

I’ve created a number of pages with embedded Flash videos. But now that Adobe has dropped support for Flash (as of Dec 31, 2020), all of my embedded videos have been replaced.

How do I embed them as playable videos once again? If I must convert them, what format do I need to support most browsers? And what would the Embed Script look like?

    TIA.

You’ll need to first convert them to a format that most modern browsers support: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video#Browser_support

    Then, upload them again: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/video-block/

Thanks. From what I can tell, “.WebM” seems to be the most common substitute for .flv, correct?

    Any recommendations?

There’s really no such thing as a substitute for flv, they’re all video formats.

WebM is a good choice, but it doesn’t support all browsers.

    H.264 MP4 would be better.

Take a look at the chart I linked to in my first reply.

Thanks. “Small size” & “widest support” is what I’m looking for. H.264 has the most support, but I think the files are among the largest.

WebM is smaller, but not supported by Safari, iPhones, or iPads, as you can see on that chart.

Even though iOS and iPadOS allow other browsers, they’re really just UI wrappers, since iOS and iPadOS still only allow Safari to be used as the browser core.

So, any format Safari doesn’t support is not supported on iPhones, about a third of mobile phones globally, and that’s something very important to consider.

Good points, though I don’t think anyone is reading my old blog on an iPhone. ??

I’ll see if I can’t create some quality H.264 files that aren’t huge.
