• So today I tried to re-activate the parent theme from the child theme and the whole site went down HTTP error 500. Website server is fine, they say it’s a wordpress problem. I can’t even access the wordpress dashboard.

I don’t know where to login to the cpanel, I have some login details, but no website to login to. Does anyone have any ideas?

I know that it looks like Cloudflare are hosting, but I can’t login to them because I only have a username and a password, they require an email address.

    Any help greatly appreciated *panics*

cpanel is normally part of your webhosting account.
are you able to call the vendor that is your webhosting?

Are you talking about hosting cPanel or WP Dashboard?

I can’t access the WP dashboard – it just says ‘HTTP 500 error’

I also can’t access cPanel as my client has given me a username and password, but they haven’t been able to give me a location to login.

Called the web servers several times, who initially said it looks like a server error, but now are saying it’s a WP problem. But I can’t login to wordpress or a cPanel.

    So I’m lost ??

https://www.speedster-it.com host the site, and I’ve called them so many times since 3:45pm today. Last call I asked if they have a back-up please can they just restore the site as I can’t get to anything.

your site is not likely completely broken.
can the support team at the hosting company guide you to the area where your files are available?
the themes and plugins are in a folder called WP-Content.
ask your host to help you find the file manager area

1-do you have WordPress Dashboard login username and password?
2-do you have Webhosting vendor Username and Password?

Getting access to the files inside the webhosting vendor account (or via FTP access) is the first step to repairing the situation. Sorry to hear the hosting company is unable to help you today.

    Hi Lisa,

I’m not FTP-savvy. How would I go about logging in via FTP? I wonder if that’s what my login details are for?

    Thanks,

    Jen

Here is some general information of getting access to your files via FTP instead of from inside the webhosting vendor’s website.
