Please add more info on Security Check Pro

  • Hello guys. Can you ellaborate on why should we enable this new feature and how does it work or what exactly does with the information provided by our sites?

    It’s like an obscure feature and the lack of information makes it dubious and I’m not feeling compelled to activate it.

    We are not talking about that setting but about this new feature here that was just added in latest update:

    New Feature: iThemes Security now includes Security Check Pro to automatically and correctly determine your visitors IP addresses. Enable this scan by running Security Check and opting in to Security Check Pro or activate the Security Check Pro module in Advanced Modules. H/t Jeremy Voisin

    Enhancement: Run Security Check Pro IP Detection automatically once a day.

    Enhancement: Manually re-run Security Check Pro IP Detection from the Global Settings page.

    Security Check Pro is a long standing iThemes Security Pro feature that we’ve ported to the free version of iThemes Security. You can read more about it in our original release post for the feature: https://ithemes.com/wordpress-security-check-pro/

    The only information passed to our servers is the URL of your website. Our server then makes a request to your website so the plugin can determine how your server is configured to identify IP addresses.
