    Hello.

Please bump the supported WP version. The site is displaying info that it hasn’t been tested and may not work; security/scan plugins are now classifying your plugin as “abandoned” due to no activity.

  • I started to get those alerts too from all my sites.

    ?“abandoned” due to no activity.

Please update for current version of WordPress

    Thanks

I am seeing the warnings on my website too. Please update plugin to current version of WordPress. Thank you.

To clarify: the plugin works fine with the current version of WordPress (as far as I’m aware).

Wordfence (and other similar solutions) simply take the last-updated time and judge “activity” based on that. A plugin that hasn’t been updated will likely have security and compatibility issues, but “likely” does not mean “for certain”. A plugin that is simple enough has low chances of breaking in subtle ways (the less of the API it uses, the less chances of it breaking when things change), so the rule of thumb is: if it looks OK, it probably is OK.

All the plugin probably needs is a bump in the “tested for” field, which may (or may not) also count as “activity” to satisfy security/maintenance plugins.

I agree, plugin seems to be working fine with latest version of WordPress.

    Warnings are just processionary.

abandoned” due to no activity, means that a plugin has not been updated in 2 years or more. This can be a problem, because it means that the plugin author has not made any changes for a long period of time. Sometimes that means it won’t be fully compatible with newer WordPress versions, reported bugs may not be fixed, and new security issues might not be addressed.

The author, Alex Mills, passed away on February 27th, 2019. On the 18th he wrote, “Since all of my plugins are open-source, they are free to be forked by reputable authors in the WordPress community. It would mean a lot to have my legacy go on.”

Goodness me. That is terribly sad to hear. I lost my brother-in-law to cancer less than a month ago. He edited my new book, which is now part of his legacy. It is more important than ever to keep the plugins updated for Alex’s legacy.

    Hi @ellmanncreative and all,

It’s true that the plugin author, Alex has passed away, but Automattic has been maintaining the plugin in honor of Alex.

Let me escalate this to our development team so they can update the supported version; we’ll report back here once it’s done. Thanks!

    Thanks @bluejay77 for doing this.

@cena also created a Github issue for this:
    https://github.com/Automattic/regenerate-thumbnails/issues/137

…And noted there that it’s already been tested against WP 6.1 a few months ago. I guess you just need to release this as a new version of the plugin here?

Perhaps also updating the required minimum PHP version too?

    Thanks @bluejay77

I come here for the same reason,

I will be attentive to any update

    Thanks!

    Hi @ellmanncreative and all,

Our development team has finished testing and bumped the tested WordPress core version for Regenerate Thumbnails to 6.2. Thank you all for the report!
