You should only download WordPress from the original source. Never download WordPress from an untrusted third party unless you really want your site hacked due to dodgy code being added in.

When you say it doesn’t work, what doesn’t work? You can’t download the zip? Or you can download the zip, but don’t know what to do with it?

I’m sure the zip is fine when I download & extract it. If someone was to post it elsewhere you’ll most likely get the same issue. What are you unzipping it with? Maybe try a different app to extract it or grab the tar.gz version and extract that instead.

I don’t know where you are getting that zip file from but the official download location is https://www.ads-software.com/download/ which you can see in the big red button to the top right of this page.

Plus there is no WordPress version 2.9.2 yet. It’s highly likely that the zip you are trying to download is some dodgy hack.

it’s not 2.9.2, but it 2.9; and when i download 2 copys the 2nd is renamed.

It extracts just fine for me. I’d suggest deleting any copies you have and getting the zip file again. Maybe try a different unzip program.

I installed the latest version two times now, and in both cases i got the following error message: Fatal error: Call to a member function read() on a non-object in /Volumes/appeldata/web/verkoopkaart/sitenew/wp-includes/theme.php on line 387
I used the default theme in both cases in order to develop my own theme but out of the blue there was this message and WP went flat on it’s back.
Has anybody has a clue? Never had anything this severe with WP installations?

Hi, My problem (wich I hope gets fixed with 2.9.1) is that it keeps prompting me to install 2.9 while i’m already running 2.9. When I agree to reinstall it says it’s not nessescarry cause I already have the latest version.

I have reinstalled It once in total but doesn’t help.

There is nothing wrong with the .zip file in this link. Either you have a hardware issue that is corrupting your downloads, or issues with your extraction utilities.

I just downloaded and extracted the .zip package using 7-zip and the native windows compression tool (although the vista version is a joke) with no problems. I also extracted the tar.gz package using 7-zip with no errors. Try it from a different computer.
