please clarify

    Modified files it is said to put into
    /wp-content/themes/MYTHEME/plugins/events-manager
    BUT my plugins folder is
    /wp-content/plugins

    so do i just create a new plugin folder @
    /wp-content/themes/MYTHEME/plugins/ and create the events-manager folder here so as said i have
    /wp-content/themes/MYTHEME/plugins/events-manager and also
    /wp-content/plugins with all my plugins as my theme does not already have plugins at /wp-content/themes/MYTHEME/plugins/

    hi,

    you need this template directory in your theme – /wp-content/themes/MYTHEME/plugins/events-manager so that when you want to modify EM templates you can put it there and EM will not override or delete your modified templates during updates.

    yes i understand this, but in my case not having a plugins folder in themes, i just create one, correct?

    yes, you need to create those folders in your theme.
