• Pre 2.0, after you uploaded images, you had the option, on the upload page, to go right to the gallery to edit. Now…you have to go to the “manage galleries” and find the gallery in question in the (in my case) massive list. I (REALLY) like the ability to edit the gallery from within the post edit, but I have LOTS of galleries to which I add images all the time. Finding them in the list isn’t impossible, but it’s obviously unnecessary.

And while we’re at it…is there ANY way to sort the list of galleries in alphabetical order rather than numbers? Please? Please please please?

@jsf1000 – Clicking on the Gallery heading when you are looking at the gallery list under Gallery > Manage Galleries will sort them alphabetically.

As to having an option to go right to the gallery to edit after uploading please feel free to add your thoughts and ideas on this here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

    Thanks!

    Hi there

Like JSF1000 I also have lots of galleries to which I add images all the time (daily).

Until now I managed by using an older version of NextGEN gallery, where the album number in the list on ‘Add Gallery/Images’ page helped me identify the correct album (awaiting alphabetical sort option) – and the ‘edit album’ link after at photo upload brought med directly to the album.

By accident I have now upgraded to the latest version along with all the other plugins that needed upgrading after latest WP upgrade :o(

Please help me identify which version of NextGEN galley I have to revert to – and how to do it without losing any content.

Meanwhile I have voted for the features I need – but I need them today, so going back is the solution for now.

@vivi Nordestgaard – Please see this article regarding rolling back to a previous version: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/

    Thanks!

I just followed the instructions on the page you gave me a link to Cais – and reverted to version 1.9.13. It seems to have worked perfectly.

    Thanks a million :o)

I’ll keep an eye out for the features I need in coming versions of this nice plugin.

@vivi Nordestgaard – You’re welcome. Please also note on that page we do not recommend rolling back to NextGEN Legacy versions such as what you have done.

    Yezz. I’m aware of that.

But with a (growing)list of now 258 galleries – and adding a picture to approx 20 of them per day – it’s impossible to use the newer versions where you have to visually search through the dropdown for each of them. In stead I have written down the ID’s of the galleries (with their corresponding names) on my daily photolist – and I can easily find the ID on the dropdown list when I need to upload a photo. I’m not just using the newest galleries, bul almost all of them. And on top of that for each photoupload then to find the gallery again on the ‘Manage gallery’-list in order to maybe update the photo-info and rearrange the order of photos – well, it’s just not a possibility.

For my use the older versions works much better for now. I have made suggestions for the different kind of solutions for future versions that will help the likes of me, but am of course aware that there’s a lot of different requests from a lot of people and not everything will be done or done at once.
So instead of changing to another plugin, for now I just use the older version and wait ??

Unfortunately, the shopping cart plugin I use now requires the new version of NextGen, so rolling back isn’t an option. Also, I really like the other features, especially uploading and inserting a new gallery without having to open a new tab. It seems like such a silly change…

Glad to know I’m not the only one, tho…

Cais, thanks. I’m aware of that. What I’d like is when I’m inserting a single image from an older gallery, and that’s a little dropdown list. I’d just like to be able to choose to have that be in alphabetical order by default. I’ll put that into the suggestions as well.

Also…there’s a problem with the alpha sort in the manage gallery. It sorts, but if you try to go to, say, page 15 of 30, it reverts to the date created sort.

@jsf1000 – Thanks, we’ll have to look into the issue with sorting if it is reverting on older pages … how are you accessing “page 15 of 30”? There may be something in the workflow for us to address.

In the upper right corner, there’s a blank box with the search box that says page (blank) of X number of pages. (hope this works) Here are links to screen caps:

    1) the list sorted by title

    2) the list after I’ve entered “5” in the box and hit return. Note it’s back to gallery number order

@jsf1000 – Thanks! I’m going to write this up for our developers to look into. Would you mind sending us a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) on this as well.

It would be nice to have a look at this directly on your site so if you be able to share a set of log in credentials for your WordPress installation that would be great. You can include them with your Bug Report.

    Thanks!

@cais and @jsf1000 – I raised this issue months ago. I have 1500 + albums and OFTEN need to add images to old albums. It’s an absolute pain in the the A! You try and find album 332 to upload a single image to and you’ll understand my frustration. We have gone through and numbered every 50th album to at least let us visually narrow it down. V1.x was simple and intuitive. V2.x is a nightmare in terms of flow.

My bigger issue remains the conflict with the BP profile editor because there is no work-around for that! I have 12,000+ members who can’t edit their profile. They’re not happy and I’m extremely NOT happy.
