I’m not sure what you mean by “the PayPal account number won’t let me enter anything”..??

When you click that link to view credentials it will bring up a login. When you login there with your PayPal account it will drop you directly to a page displaying your API username, password, and signature.

The top box PayPal Account ID

But that whole page I don’t know how to fill out?

The PayPal account ID will fill itself in.

You mentioned watching the video, but did you also review the steps and the screenshot outlined below the video under the Companies section?

Yes, but I am not clear on which I should choose, Get Live ADP Credentials or Sandbox
the rest of the options on that page as well…

Live would be for your live account, so that’s what you want when you’re ready to start making buttons for your live PayPal account and real payments.

Sandbox is for testing, so you would need to setup a sandbox account through https://developer.paypal.com and then you could setup a test/sandbox account to create buttons for testing, which is optional, of course.

So are you trying to set this up for testing or for your live account?

Other than the API credentials, the fields on the page are just company name, contact name, email address. Nothing unique about those…just your own values.

I think you’re making this harder on yourself than you need to. ??

No not testing but Pay Pal no longer looks like your video here https://www.angelleye.com/paypal-wp-button-manager-setup-guide/ so I don’t know where to go to get the API. I tried to find it on my own and accidentally set up a sandbox

Now I don’t know how to get the API, I am nervous because Pay pal says you can only have 5. There are so many words and options that they mention with API in it that don’t want to do the wrong thing. It should be in here? https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/ I need help finding the API. Thanks

That doc is for the REST API. That’s different from what this plugin uses.

What happens when you click the “Get Live API Credentials” link and login with your account? That should drop you straight into a page with your credentials.

It doesn’t take me there, it takes me to my main pay pal page.

Hmmm…that’s strange. Still working fine for me, and I haven’t had any other reports of that link not working.

Try following the steps outlined here: https://support.berta.me/kb/online-shop/how-to-get-paypal-api-username-password-and-signature-information

Does it have to be a business account?

    Plugin Contributor angelleye

    (@angelleye)

Yes, that could be the issue if you’re currently doing it with a personal account.

    (@nanogirl)

Is there a way around that?

    Create a business account. ??
