    Hi,

For some reason when I type in my website address stephenjbradley.com, it takes me to an old, undeveloped wp page. The only way I can presently access the new, developed page is through my wp admin. Why does my admin point me in the right direction, but my address not show the modifications I’ve made? It must be a file in wp that I need to correct, can anyone help with the code?

    Thanks,
    Stephen

    thats blank for me.

that means that you follow the normal troubleshooting process of deactivating plugins and changing to the default theme, and then seeing what happens.
Ill even go one step further, and say that all the files werent successfully uploaded when the upgrade was done.

Right, now it’s like there’s “two” https://www.stephenjbradley.com’s … the one you see when you first type in https://www.stephenjbradley.com and the one you see once you go in thru the admin login. What would you recommend for reinstalling so I don’t lose all of the updates / changes? I searched thru my files to see what was most recently updated, but I don’t know where the updates to the site are housed in my wp folders, so don’t know what to re-load, or get rid of to dump the old site.

your front page is set up by you. If you want to display another page you need to change that in the settings.

this is not windows. for the millionth time. RE-installing isnt the answer.

Actually, that’s not right. The address whoo posted was without www! And those are considered 2 different addresses…

and .. you dont “get rid of files to dump the old site”

Content and settings are stored in your database.

I’m wondering if it’s possible that I have 2 databases – one that houses the new info / updates and one that doesn’t, and somehow wp is directing me initially to the first one vs the new one….

So, where is your WP installed? In the root or in a subdirectory?
If in the root – why is it missing the WP’s index.php?

What are the two URL values in admin > Settings > General?

Give info if you need help…

actually I just checked and I only have 1 database…..

confession: I’m a newbie at this, thx

Well, if you are a newbie then don’t make up “theories”.
Just answer the questions and follow the instructions.

Moshu – I think it’s in the root.

If you want to see the wierdness, my username is admin my password is ****

Watch what happens when you go to my admin, and THEN visit the site through my admin. The home page changes – now there’s a Welcome! and a “send an email” option, and the Location and Hours has a bunch of stuff including a google map. This is all of the stuff I want people to see, but the original address, https://www.stephenjbradley.com is directing them to the old, barren data.

    thx

OK, to just answer the question – the url values you asked about are both https://www.stephenjbradley.com

Never post a pw in a public forum (edited).

It is your theme or one of the plugins.
Switched to the default theme and deactivated all the plugins – and it works.
