Hi, I was told that for my site (VirtualAssistantAce.com) I need to manually edit the header.php and upload the picture to the server. Can somebody please provide a clear step by step on how to do this? I tried to find info on this before, but I have not found a clear guide that is easy to follow.

    Thanks,
    Suzanna

You should never modify core files because the changes will be overwritten whenever you update your theme.

However, if you still want to do this… you can go to your admin panel -> appearance -> editor

Then, select the header.php file from the list on the right.

Thanks. I got that far, but what do I do after selecting header.php? How do I actually replace the old image with my new one?

You can do this fairly easily using an FTP client such a FileZilla and without actually editing header.php.

First use a browser or a tool such as Firebug to identify the image file name and path.

Second, download that file (for safe keeping).

Third, create a file of same file type, file name, and dimensions. Upload that file overwriting the existing one.

Refresh browser to see new image (and clear server cache if in use).

    Done.
