• Please, can someone help me? Since this weekend, I’ve tried to add new posts in the dashboard, but none of the buttons work. I can’t get the auto publish date to come up, toggle between all categories and most used, or get the photo editor to pop up when I click on that. I’m getting really frustrated with all of this. I’ve contacted my web host, and they say it’s a WP problem. I’ve cleared the browser cache, reset the computer, tried it on a different computer even, and nothing works.dash

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

[Edit] Use ftp or log into your hosted account and change the name of the plugins folder to xplugins. You can do the same with your theme. This will force wp to open with no plugins and with the default theme.

I haven’t switched the theme. I’m deactivating plug ins now. If I switch the theme, will it take out the things I’ve added to the sidebar?

A ha! Somewhere in the plug ins lies my answer! Thank you so much!
