I have 6 sites created on my multisite install. Each has it’s own theme, although all the files are identical with the exception of a few areas in the front-page.php and functions.php files.

Today, I modified the front-page.php and functions.php files on all 6 themes and loaded them via FireFTP and all but one site is working. I can’t get to the homepage, but all other pages are working just fine, including the dashboard. I have checked, rechecked and checked again (at least 10 times) the front-page file and compared it to the other theme front-page files as well and the is not a single difference among them, so I have no idea what could be happening to cause this.

The URL to the homepage is here, here is a link to a working page on the same site.

Any thoughts on what is causing this? I need this fixed ASAP but cannot, for the life of me, see a solution. I may be blinded by my frustration so I’m hoping someone here can help me out.

    Thanks.

I should mention, since it’s not really clear in the original post, that the site was working perfectly up to this point. I even removed the changes I made to the functions and front-page files on this site and loaded the older versions, but it still didn’t work.

    Thanks.

I have no idea what you mean by “not working”. What am I supposed to be seeing?

Ok, so it appears the problem is in Firefox. Here’s a screenshot.

Flush your browser cache in Firefox (also consider upgrading FF….)

I did clear the cache. I upgraded FF about 3 days ago.

Just tried it again and it’s working. I had 2 other people check the site, one on Firefox (PC) and the other on Chrome (PC) and it didn’t show up on their computers either. Now I haven’t changed a single thing, I just left it alone for about an hour and it’s working now. Although the maps aren’t showing up towards the bottom.

On the one hand, I’m glad it’s working, but on the other, I want to know what caused it. So frustrated.

Are you running caching plugins or caching on the server?

    Thread Starter sparklogix

    (@mybenson)

Nope, haven’t had any issues like this before, which is why I’m a bit baffled.

Worked in FF for me too.

A blank white page is almost always a php error – but that would show in all browsers.

At this point you may just have to move on. I have no idea why you;d get a php error in one browser alone, except for caching issues.

It’s possible that the issue is only popping up for logged in users (most likely, Andrea and Ipstenu were not logged into your site when they visited; and you probably weren’t logged in when you tested your site in other browsers).

The simplest way to find the issue is going to be to review your server’s error logs. If you’re not sure how to view your error logs, you might need to contact your host.

Curtiss, thank you. I will definitely go check the error logs. Being logged in or not did not cross my mind. Thanks!

    Good catch Curtiss.
